Recently, I was asked to be a part of a special series featured by CBS Local-- Lets Get To Work Phoenix. I had the opportunity to speak with many amazing people in the Phoenix community to learn more about their careers and involvement in Phoenix. Here are a few of the featured stories to help students and Phoenix residents choose a career path:


Entrepreneur Provides Insight Into The Business Of Hospice In Phoenix
 With 30 years in the health care industry including 12 years in hospital administration, Gary Polsky understands what it takes to develop a successful career in business management for hospice care.

“I went into hospice after working in a number of hospitals around the country, including Mesa General and Phoenix Community Hospital,” says Polsky. “I realized that the leading edge for medicine was going toward health care for people who didn’t want to sit around a hospital due to the aggressive care.”

 
Registered Nurse (RN) Joanne Bateman is the division director for BAYADA Home Health Care. She oversees all aspects of the service offices in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Having worked within the health care industry for over 30 years, Bateman believes she understands what is needed to build a successful career in health. “Working in home health care administration is unique, but it’s not for everyone,” says Bateman. “You need to have the empathy, along with the passion, to love what you do every day.” She also believes a career in health can be very rewarding.
 
The demand for careers in education is high with continual growth and promising prospects for future advancements, according to Dr. Tim HamMadison Elementary School District’s superintendent in Phoenix. He also says, “If your heart and head are in the right place, a career in education provides purposeful and meaningful work.”
With 30 years in the educational system, Dr. Ham offers insight into what it takes to develop a career in education.
